Modi making hollow promises: Akhilesh

PNS

Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of making hollow promises and the Uttar Pradesh government of not paying heed to the poor and the marginalised people.

“They have left the youths high and dry, aimless and without jobs,” the former Chief Minister of UP said while interacting with party workers and supporters, exhorting them to gear up for the 2019 lok Sabha election.

Akhilesh asked the youth to be high on guard as the BJP was busy devising new techniques to hoodwink the people ahead of the 2019 general election.

The SP chief accused the BJP government in the state of failing to protect women, minorities and the masses and abjectly failing to control law and order in UP.

Akhilesh said that a few people were running the state by making policies that benefited them. He said that it would be ‘cycle’ (SP election symbol) that would ensure defeat of the BJP and communal forces.

“In the present dispensation, people have been robbed of happiness and to expect anything from them (the BJP) is a mirage,” Akhilesh added.

He also accused the media of being partisan and favouring the ruling party, saying that media houses were taken over by corporate and hence they were failing to discharge their duties as the fourth pillar of democracy.
