Describing BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as an ‘enemy of humanity’, the Samajwadi Party  supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav  on Thursday took a swipe at at the BJP leader for saying that he would convert UP into Gujarat.

Addressing a huge rally in Varanasi, Yadav  asked the saffron brigade: “Was there no other leader in the party for this postIJ”.

Meanwhile,  Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav announced  opening of  a medical college for Varanasi and Chanduli residents and he also declared that a new tehsil would be created in Mughalsarai.

Kicking off the party’s poll campaign in Purvanchal for the forthcoming parliamentary elections in Ramnagar (Trans-Ganga), the SP chief put Narendra Modi on his target and said that the Gujarat CM was saying to make UP another Gujarat. “But Modi has no courage to turn UP into Gujarat because he would not let him to do so,” said Mulayam.

Mulayam asked the BJP: “Was there only Gujarat CM in party to declare its PM candidate who is responsible for bloodbath in GujaratIJ”

Addressing an impressive gathering on the Bawanbigh ground, the SP chief said that the BJP was trying to confront him and asked Modi what he had done for the poor and the farmers in his state.

Hitting out at the Congress, Mulayam said that despite  six decades of independence, one-sixth population in the country did not have enough money to celebrate  their festivals and had to go to bed without having a square meal. He blamed the Congress for the plight of the people since it was in power at the Centre for a long period.

The SP chief questioned the Congress  what it had done for the country except giving scams and price rise which had ruined the country.

Describing the UP Government as the only ideal government in the country, Mulayam appreciated the efforts of his son Akhilesh for fulfilling poll promises in a short span. The forthcoming lok Sabha  elections, he said, would be an important one for the SP, and it would would play a crucial role in the formation of the Government at the Centre.

Mulayam exhorted party workers to go to people and apprise them of party policies and state Government’s achievements.

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav claimed that his government did a lot during the last one-and-a-half years for the development of state and added that it was good news that the UP was being compared to other states. He, however, added that a conspiracy was being hatched against the SP and only the negative side was projected by the media.

Akhilesh blamed the media for making a big hue and cry over the programme of film actors during Safai Mahotsav and claimed that the government was committed to work for the interest of the common man. He attacked Opposition for making a false propaganda against his government and party and asked party workers to be cautious about it. He also appealed to party workers to make Mulayam the country’s PM.

SP general secretary Azam Khan also blamed the media and said that it did not want peace in Muzaffarnagar and instead wanted to ruin the country. Advocating for a code of conduct for the media, Khan asked party workers not to pay any heed to such coverage.

Ministers, including Ahmad Hasan, Balram Yadav, Om Prakash Singh, Narad Rai and Manoj Pandey, were present on occasion. Durga Prasad Yadav conducted the rally and lal Mohammed presided over it.
