Pioneer News Service, PS

A minor girl was allegedly raped and murdered in Bagpat district on Wednesday. Agitated with the incident, the family members of the victim and local residents staged a protest after which the cops registered a case to cool down their anger.

later they sent the body for post-mortem examination and claimed to be probing the matter to trace out the accused involved in the crime. One person from whose house the body was recovered was also taken in custody for interrogation but so far the cops failed to make any breakthrough in the matter.
Reports said that 15-year-old Rubina (name changed) a resident of Badawad locality of Binauli in Bagpat district, who was student of class VIII in a local inter college went to the house of her neighbour identified as Samunder Singh on Wednesday afternoon.

The matter took an ugly turnwhen the girl not returned home and later in the night, Samundar Singh and his family members came with Rubina’s body and left her at home. They told Rabina’s father that they found the victim lying in unconscious state in the verandah of the house so they tried to shift her to hospital. However as they picked her up to shift her to hospital they noticed  that she was already dead so they decided to hand over her body to her family members. According to Rubina’s father, the circumstantial evidences and injuries on the bodies suggested that the victim was first sexually assaulted and later someone strangulated her to death.

They also suspected that the accused seems to be known to the girl hence after committing the sexual  offense he also decided to eliminate her just to ensure that his name not come up during investigation. Agitated with the death, the family members also took the body and kept it in front of the local Bilauli police station and staged a protest demanding arrest of the culprits on Thursday. They also resisted when the cops tried to take the body of the victim in their possession and send it for post-mortemexamination.

However, later after district police chief, Rajubabu Singh reached the spot and assured of stern action in the matter, the family members called off their agitation and handed over the body. The cops later also picked up Samundar and were grilling him to extract the fact. The cops also suspected his hands in the crime as the body was recovered from his house. Further investigations are on in the matter. Meanwhile a family sat on dharna at collectrate compound in Bharaich after the local police refused to register a case of kidnapping of a minor girl. Reports said that one Chintaram, a native of Hasi Rampurwa Kadhmari hamlet of Viseshwarganj in Bhariach contacted the local police on Wednesday afternoon and reported that his daughter Anita, who was still minor was kidnapped by some local goons at gun point.

The cops however refused to register a case in this regard. Agitated with the inhuman behaviour of the cops, the family members contacted senior police officers but when they also refused to take cognizance, they were forced to go and sit on indefinite dharna at collectrate compound on Thursday morning. The family members were demanding that until the cops registered a case and rescue the girl from clutches of the accused, they will not give up their agitation.
