Bijnore was rocked with two sensational incidents which included a rape and murder of a minor girl in Mandawali locality and a brutal killing of a professor in which his wife was also critically injured in Dhanpur area of the district.
In Mandawali, 22-year-old Abdul Kareem, running a tea stall at Bhuddi locality, intercepted 12-year-old daughter of the resident of the same area, on Sunday night. He pulled her inside the room, raped her and when she threatened to report the matter, he strangulated her to death with help of a polythene bag. The accused later escaped from the spot. local police registered a case in the matter on the complaint of girl’s father and had launched a hunt for the accused.
In another incident reported from Dhampur, over half a dozen unknown armed miscreants barged inside the house of Manoj Kumar, a professor in local degree college living with his wife Dolly at Teachers Colony, in the wee hours of Monday. The accused brutally battered Manoj Kumar to death and also assaulted his wife in which she was critically injured. Some neighbours who rushed to rescue the family after hearing their cries, shifted Dolly to district hospital from where she was referred to Moradabad. local police registered a case and are trying to ascertain motive behind the attack. Students of Dhampur college later also staged a protest against the killing of the professor and threatened to launch a agitation if the accused were not arrested soon.
Meanwhile, a woman died under mysterious circumstances at Sitapur and the family accused local police for the death while in a separate case in Santkabirnagar, a woman died while making attempt to foil a loot bid. In Sitapur, Vidyasagar Yadav and Ramsagar Yadav, both kin residing at Sadna locality of Rampurkala, had a tiff after which local police was informed on Sunday evening. Reports said that when the police led by sub-inspector, Harvansh Shukla reached the spot and tried to nab the accused, they tried to escape in which one 50-year-old Gyatri Yadav, fell down and died on the spot. Her husband Raghunath Yadav, later accused the opposite party as well as the cops to have assaulted the lady following which she fell and died. A case was registered in this regard and further investigations are on.
In Santkabirnagar, over half a dozen armed miscreants entered into the house of Vijay Kumar Srivastava, hailing from Uskakala area of Khaleelabad, in the wee hours of Monday. They brutally assaulted 30-year-old Baby, wife of Vijay’s kin Manoranjan Verma, and escaped after sweeping gold ornaments and cash. Critically injured Baby, was rushed to district hospital but she was pronounced dead upon arrival. A case has been registered in this regard and body was sent for post-mortem examination.
