Mayawati slams SP Govt for delay in approval of 7th pay commission

Continuing her tirade against the ruling Samajwadi Party, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati charged the Akhilesh Yadav government of delaying the decision of providing benefits of Seventh Pay Commission to the state employees. She also termed the benefits forwarded as `undignified and disgraceful’.

“The SP government should have taken the right steps earlier on the valid demands of the state employees. But they only faced lathi-charge when they protested for their genuine demands,” alleged Mayawati.

“Decisions taken by the cabinet on Tuesday were not taken in public interest but for different interests” she further alleged through a press release issued on Wednesday.

Mayawati claimed that since the Assembly polls are inching closer, the SP regime is inaugurating incomplete projects. “Several projects were only half complete yet the government made full payments to contractors which is a corrupt practice. When the BSP comes to power, enquiries will be made into these projects and the involved people will not be spared,” saidthe BSP chief.

Mayawati also took a jibe at the SP’s possible tie-up with the Congress. ``Only weak needs support. Mulayam Singh’s keenness for an alliance only depicts its poor condition. The SP has accepted defeat as the party is in turmoil,” asserted the BSP leader.

Mayawati’s remarks came at a time when prospects of a poll alliance between the ruling SP and the Congress appeared to be brightening. Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday had asserted that the alliance between two parties could bag seats in excess of 300 in the upcoming Assembly polls.

later, training her guns at the Modi government over demonetisation, Mayawati said that the Centre was not prepared for the move and it has been a decision taken in haste.

``The PM is speaking everywhere except in the Parliament as he lacks the moral strength to address the House,” quipped Mayawati speaking on the PM’s absence from the Parliament.
