Bahujan Samaj Party president Mayawati on Friday questioned the Modi government over the brutal killing of Rising Kashmir editor Shujat Bukhari in Srinagar on Thursday and blamed the faulty foreign policy of the NDA government for appeasement of ultra outfits behind the rise in attacks on civilians.

“We condemn the incident and blame the PDP-BJP regime in Jammu and Kashmir for failing to control ultra outfits in killing people of repute,” the BSP chief said.

Mayawati also said that Modi should do away with this skewed foreign policy in J&K and immediately take strong steps against the terrorists.

“The killing of Indian soldiers on Indo-Pak border is also a matter of concern, but the Centre is just sleeping on the issue,” she asserted. Rising Kashmir editor Shujat Bukhari was gunned down by three bike -borne assailants outside his office along with two of his PSOs in Srinagar on Thursday evening.

In a statement released in lucknow on Friday, the BSP chief said that law and order has dipped to a new low in J&K under the PDP-BJP regime and the two parties were brazenly pampering terror outfits.

“Things are out of control despite the BJP and PDP alliance at the helm in Jammu and Kashmir. The spate of killings is continuing along the border as well as in the state. Our security personnel are being martyred. People want peace and order and the Central government needs to bring a change in its Kashmir policy,” she stressed.

The former Chief Minister was also critical of the state-of-affairs in UttarPradesh and said that on one hand, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his ministers were challenging history everyday and on the other hand, cheques given to meritorious students by the government, were not being honoured by banks.

Mayawati also raised the issue of law and order in Assam and Maharastraunder BJP rule. “In Assam, two Hindu youths were lynched, while in Jalgaon (Maharashtra , two people were beaten for bathing at a well. These incidents show how law and order situation prevails in BJP-ruled states,” she claimed.
