Ruing out any post-poll truck with National Democratic Alliance (NDA) at Centre, Bahujan Samaj Party(BSP) supremo Mayawati condemned BJP’s PM nominee Narendra Modi for claiming that his party can seek support from regional parties.
‘’I have earlier said that the BSP would have not form alliance with the BJP or NDA in future and I stick to my words,’’ she said. Talking to reporters here just before flying to Varanasi for campaigning on Friday morning, Mayawati said, ‘’BJP and Modi were hatching conspiracy to confuse the Muslims before the last phase of polling by making such statements.’’
BSP president said that she had already burnt her hand by entering into an alliance with the BJP in 2002 to run the UP government. ‘’I was forced to pull down by government after BJP tried to finish the BSP movement in 2003. BJP was responsible for initiating DA case and CBI probe against me. Now how can they even think about supporting the NDA government led by Modi at the Centre,’’ she questioned.
She said that BJP knows that only BSP can give them a befitting reply in the elections in UP, hence they are making such statements to confuse the people. ‘’But I am confidant that people know about the conspiracy and will not fall prey to their plans,’’ she said.
‘’The statement of Modi made during an interview with a private TV news channel also proves that BJP’s move to get absolute majority has been shattered and now they are in search of an escape route. Besides now NDA was left with just a few political parties in it and they would have to bank on leaders like Mamata and Jayalalitha to form the government,’’ she said.
In an interview with a news channel last night, Modi had said he could seek the support of regional parties despite having severely criticised leaders like Mamata Banerjee, Mayawati, Jayalalithaa and Naveen Patnaik. Modi said his campaign attacks on leaders like Mamata and
Mayawati might well be tactics to keep the doors of post-poll
Re-conciliation open. Modi had remained reticent, saying ‘’whatever I wanted to explain, I have. This can also be a tactic to keep the door open...I won’t explain it now but will do so after May 12.’’
