Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP)supreme, Mayawati hit out at the Narendra Modi government at the centre in connection with the involvement of BJP leaders, minister and chief minister with former IPl boss lalit Modi.
“The act of the BJP leaders shows that they are more interested in severing their own relationships rather than working for the country’s interest,” she said but did not demand the sacking of the accused leaders. Mayawati criticised the BJP government for their arrogant stand that no minister or chief minister will resign like the previous UPA government. “It is unfortunate that when the Central government should have brought lalit Modi to India but its minister was asking other country to protect the guilty person and even facilitating him to get visa for other countries,” she alleged.
In a written statement here , the former chief minister in her late reaction though claimed that the BJP and prime minister Narendra Modi is on the backfoot but still the central government was trying to protect the leaders, who have been clearly helping lalit Modi. “The stand taken by the Central government is too weak to save the skin of its leaders but still they are adamant in removing the tainted external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vashudhara Raje Scindia. She said that Vasudhara’s son Dushyant, who is also the BJP MP from Rajasthan, is clearly involved in partnering with lalit Modi in business which amounts to economic offence.
Meanwhile, the BSP president also questioned the controversy ranging on the educational qualification of Union Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani. “It is surprising that the Centre was still mum on the issue when the court had taken up the issue and there is no move to defend the minister which proves some interesting would emerge ahead,” she said.
