Maya blames SP Govt for Mathura Clash

PNS

Holding the Akhilesh Yadav government responsible for the bloody clash in Mathura which claimed  the lives of several people including two police officials, BSP chief Mayawati demanded the government's resignation for misgovernance.

Demanding a time-bound judicial probe into the incident, the former CM said that such incidents are shameful and the SP government should step down taking moral responsibility.

In a statement released in lucknow on Friday, the BSP chief said that the death of SHO Santosh Yadav and SP(City) Mukul Dwivedi proves that even the cops were unsafe in this state under the present regime. "The incident has severely dented the morale of the policemen of the state," she stressed.

"The SP government's announcement on paying ex-gratia to the families of the slain officers has only added insult to the grave loss and indicated their deranged mental status," she commented.

She questioned as to how did the authorities allow encroachment on government land for two years and did nothing to remove them. "Why did the government wait for two years for the Allahabad High Court to order an evacuation of the illegal people, that too on a PIl IJ," she questioned.

Mayawati also alleged that criminals were ruling roost in the SP regime and running a parallel government. "The discovery of huge cache of firearms and ammuniotion in Jawaharbagh (Mathura) proves that the ruling party was patronising criminals to use them during the coming polls," said she.

Rejecting the probe by Agra Divisional Commissioner into the Mathura violence, Mayawati said that only a time-bound judicial probe could find the real reasons for the violent flare-up.

Meanwhile, UP Congress demanded a judicial probe into Mathura’s incident. ``Killing of two officers is matter of concern for every citizen, who are already worried about their safety,” asserted Chairman of UP Congress Committee (Media Cell) Satyadeo Tripathi while paying tribute to the slain officers.

``The miscreants and those patronising  them for the last two years, should be punished for their brazen act of violence. This could come about  only if a judicial probe by a sitting High Court judge is carried out,”, stressed Tripathi.
