In a bizarre incident, a 47-year-old leader of Bharatiya Janata Party allegedly eloped with the 26-year-old daughter of a Samajwadi Party leader in Hardoi district.

An FIR was registered in the case after the incident came to light and the BJP expelled the leader for allegedly “indulging in anti-party activities”, reports said.

According to reports, the BJP leader, identified as Ashish Shukla, is already married and has two children. Shukla is the father of a 21-year-old son and a seven-year-old daughter. As per sources, the girl's family fixed her marriage against her will but she was already in an affair with Shukla. They finally decided to elope to avoid her marriage.

BJP's Hardoi district media in-charge Gangesh Pathak told media persons that Ashish Shukla was the party's city general secretary. Pathak said, "Ashish was removed from the post and his primary membership was cancelled due to laxity in work and for working against the party's policy. Shukla is no longer involved with the party. The police have complete authority to take action against him."

The case is now being thoroughly investigated.

Meanwhile in Sitapur, one person was arrested for allegedly sharing obscene videos and chats with a minor boy on a social media platform, the police said on Wednesday.

After the victim's family filed a complaint, the cyber team of police swung into action and found the location of the accused youth. Upon investigation, his address was found to be in the Sitapur district. A case was registered against the accused under the Information Technology Act and he was sent to jail.
