Upset with the affair of his 22-year-old daughter with a youth with whom she once eloped, a man brutally battered her to death with a stick to save “family honour” at Simoni village in Baberu Kotwali area of Banda on Sunday evening.
The police later arrested the assailant, who is reported to have confessed to the heinous crime.
As per reports, Mahmud Khan (49) of Jamuwan village in Tindwari police station area near Gadra Nala of Simoni village, fatally injured his daughter, Hasina alias Husna Bano (22), by beating her with a stick. After executing the crime, he fled the scene. On being informed by local residents, a police team reached the spot and rushed the injured victim to a hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead.
The police said that during preliminary investigation, it surfaced that Mahmud was trying to get his daughter married but she was not ready for the matrimonial alliance.
Husna Bano had gone in fact with a lover four years back and her family had got a case registered at Tindwari police station. She was however recovered later and handed over to her father. Sources said that the girl was killed as she again planned to elope with another youth against the wishes of her family members.
The father of the victim was arrested on Monday and he was being questioned. Further investigations were on and the body was sent for post-mortem.
Meanwhile in Muzaffarnagar, a 17-year-old girl was raped by two men and a video of the incident was shared on social media by the rapists in a village in Bhopa police station area on Sunday. Subsequently, a case was registered against the accused, Shubham and Ashish, who are absconding.
As per a complaint filed by the victim's mother, the accused lured the girl to a guava orchard on the pretext of offering her the fruit and instead gang-raped her. The incident came to light after the video of the crime was circulated on social media by the miscreants.
Meanwhile, a case was registered against Bobby for trying to rape a woman in a village in Kotwali police station area of Muzaffarnagar on Sunday. The miscreant however managed to flee the spot when the woman raised an alarm. A case was registered and efforts were underway to nab the accused.
