Pioneer News Service

In a surprising move, state president of the Congress Nirmal Khatri, tried to end the controversy over his one sided action in connection with clash between two Party leaders inside the official campus. On his directions, the Disciplinary Committee of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, get the matter resolved when the two leaders appeared on Wednesday and apologised for their behaviour and assured that such unwanted action will be not repeated in the future.

“Both Jamuna Shukla, who was expelled by the Party for his action and Ashok Singh, whose entry has been restricted in the Party office, appeared before me and the three members Committee formed to probe the matter on Wednesday.

They tendered their unconditional apology besides assuring of not involving in such act in the future so I on direction of State president, Nirmal Khatri, had withdrawn all action taken against the two leader in the matter”, revealed Ramkrishna Dwivedi, the chairman of the UPCC Disciplinary Committee. Dwivedi further revealed that Jamuna had also assured that he would withdraw the case (under Section 307 IPC) filed by him against Ashok Singh, for making an attempt on his life.

Earlier in an interesting turn of events, state president, Nirmal Khatri, after seeing resentment within the Party leaders over his alleged one sided action in the matter had tried to show himself `impartial’ by ordering a probe into the case three days after the incident took place.

Not only this, he also restricted entry of Organising Secretary, Ashok Singh, inside UPCC office claiming that the move was made as Singh had not replied to notice served on him over the incident. However, what is surprising is that when action has been already initiated against one of the leader, Jamuna Shukla, accusing him of involving in anti-party activities, than what Khatri wanted to probe by ordering the enquiry.

It may be mentioned that Jamuna was not even given the opportunity to put his side by Nirmal Khatri, who ordered his expulsion from the Congress for six years. Not only this, UPCC Treasurer, Harish Bajpai, a former MlC, has been also included in the three members committee formed to probe the matter by Khatri. Interestingly when the entire incident took place before Bajpai, and even Ashok Singh, whipped out weapon before his eyes, than what remains for him (Bajpai)to probe into the incident is anyone’s guess.

Besides, Bajpai, also reportedly took Ashok Singh with him during mid of controversy and that he (Ashok), took out weapon soon after he returned to the scene after making discussion with Bajpai, so the Treasurer role also came under scanner into the incident particularly to confirm that what transpired between him and Ashok Singh, that the latter came back and whipped out pistol.

However, now after a fortnight of the incident, while the Three Members Committee yet to start any probe, the two leaders appeared before Disciplinary Committee and the said Committee and the matter was resoled to give an end to the controversy, on Wednesday
