Md Azam Khan, who is consiered Muslim mascot of Samajwadi Party did it again. This time he made Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and other dignitaries of Urdu Academy to wait for more than an hour and a half and later skipped the function where he was the chief guest.
“Azam Khan sahib was one of the main guests of the function. He could not make it because of some problems. I am sure he too wanted to attend the function,” Chairman of the Academy Dr Nawaj Deobandi told The Pioneer here on Monday.
At least 124 prominent writers were honoured by Urdu Academy. The function was to start at 11 am at 5, Kalidas Marg – the official residence of Chief Minister. Yadav too reached the venue at 11.05 am and the long wait for Azam Khan began. After waiting till 12.35 pm Chief Minister walked into the hall and the function began.
A senior official in Urdu Academy said that Azam Khan was contacted many a times but he did not take the call. Chief Minister too tried to speak to Azam Khan but failed.
Khan is running a fued with Shia cleric Kalbe Jawaad who is demanding a CBI probe into the waqf properties. On July 25 he led a protest against Azam Khan in which police used force killing one. The cleric and Azam Khan had traded charges against each other forcing Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav to intervene. The cleric met Yadav Sr and complained about Azam Khan’s obsession to go ahead with polls in Shia waqf board.
Following the intervention of Yadav Sr. Government announced postponement of elections in the Shia Waqf Board on Monday.
This infuriated Azam Khan. A source close to Azam Khan told The Pioneer that Chief Minister took a decision to cancel elections without consulting minister. “This is an insult of Khan sahib,” he said.
later in a written statement Azam Khan poured vitriol against Kalbe Jawaad and even called him an agent of RSS. ‘’How can a person claims himself a cleric when he campaigns for RSS agenda. Inciting the people during the month of Ramzan just to please the BJP government is not a work of a religious person. Instead he should be called as a blackmailer,’’ Khan said in a statement issued here on Monday.
Without taking the name of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav or Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Khan said that the cleric is meeting people but feeling shy of contesting elections. “The cleric is meeting same people whom he had vowed to teach lessons during lok Sabha elections. This man has no morality,” he said.
