Hitting out at ruling Samajwadi Party senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra said that insensitive face of the Akhilesh Yadav Government has been exposed when it asked some of the riot victims to return compensation of Rs 5 lakh by this month end.
"When the people are still languishing in relief camps around Muzaffarnagar and Shamli how can the Samajwadi Party Government justify its decision asking some of these people to return compensation. This shows that words and action of this Samajwadi Party government does not match. The Samajwadi Party claims the compensation package it had given to the victims was the best. Is this the way to give compensation," Mishra said while talking to The Pioneer here on Thursday.
The district administration has issued notice to 12 people asking them to return relief compensation because the officials say their property is outside the 18 riot-affected villages of Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts. They have even given the deadline to return money by the end of February. Reports suggest that some of the people, who shifted after the riots to their relatives’ houses, were asked to return money.
"To day government is saying that some outsiders have taken compensation claiming themselves as riot victims. If this is true the question is why such people were given compensation and what was the yardstick used to identify the riot vitims. And now what is the guarantee that genuine people are not being harassed," the BJP leader said.
He said that Samajwadi Party has orchestrated riots in parts of western Uttar Pradesh to polarize society on religious lines in view of forthcoming lok Sabha elections. "It is the party which Muslims supported during thick and thin. The real face of this party has been exposed and Muslims now want to get rid of Samajwadi Party and would vote for Modi. The Samajwadi Party Government should issue a white paper on the steps it had taken for the development of Muslims," he said.
Mishra said there is a undercurrent in favour of BJP in the state. People want to see Narendra Modi as next Prime Minister of the country. This is reflected the way people have thronged the rallies held in various parts of the state. People of all caste, creed and religion will vote for BJP this time. There is a wave in favour of Modi. This wave is more intense than the Ram Mandir wave that swept Uttar Pradesh in 90s, he said. When asked about preparation for proposed March 2 Maha rally of BJP Mishra said that it would be the biggest rally of lucknow where people from all over the state will participate. In this rally the party will show its might," he said.
