A jilted lover allegedly assaulted and molested a 24-year-old girl and threw toilet cleaner on her while she was going for some work by her scooter in Agra on Thursday. Police registered an FIR against the man who is said to have absconded.

As per reports, the accused, identified as Saurabh Sharma, used to talk to the victim over phone. He had come in contact with her when they were appearing for their BCom final-year examination in 2018.  However, the girl stopped talking to him due to his sexual advances. The accused had been stalking the girl and threatening to kill her for the past few days. He attacked her on Thursday. He pushed the victim off her scooty and allegedly molested her. He then took out a bottle of toilet cleaner from his scooter’s boot box and threw it on the victim.

According to the police, the girl did not suffer any burns as she was wearing a helmet. However, she injured her leg as she fell off the scooty.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Vikas Kumar said, “Based on the victim’s complaint, an FIR has been registered against the accused who is absconding. The FIR has been registered under various IPC sections and efforts are being made to arrest him.”

The couple were shifted to the district hospital by their family members. The woman was referred to the KGMU Trauma Centre in Lucknow after her condition was found to be critical.

The local police who reached the spot took two of the accused into custody. The nephew of the injured couple claimed that Shiv Prasad (60) and his wife Sundara Nishad, who live in the Isauli Katra village of Baldirai police station area, were sleeping inside their thatched shop on Thursday night. The couple earn their living by selling tea, water and samosas.

He said some youths reached there in an inebriated state and asked for ‘chakhna’. When the couple said they did not have any snacks, the accused first abused them and then opened fire, injuring both Shiv and Sundara.
