Union Human Resources Development minister Smriti Irani launched an indirect attack on the Gandhi family alleging that Amethi has lagged behind in development and only a handful few have benefited.
Addressing a public meeting at a school campus at Tiloi township on the first day of her twoi-day visit to Amethi on Saturday, Irani said, “The local farmers are facing enormous problems and I am here to rid them of their miseries. The ‘Kisan Bima Yojna’ launched by PM Narendra Modi will benefit farmers in a big way. Farmers will have to pay two per cent of the premium to insure their produce. The remaining premium will be shared by the Centre and the state governments.”
Irani said that if the UP government afrees to provide land for the Kisan Vigyan Kendra, then the Centre will start construction at the earliest. She announced the starting of an ambulance service in Amethi with seven ambulances in the first phase. The minister also said that the Defence minister has already adopted Barauliya village of Amethi and development has started there too. Irani also attended a meeting of party workers at Saraswati Sishu Mandir in Amethi later in the evening. On Saturday, she would address a press conference before returning to New Delhi.
