The IAS Week, the annual event of Uttar Pradesh IAS Association, commenced here on Thursday and will continue till February 3.

The IAS Week was earlier scheduled for December 13 last year but was postponed.

The five-day-long event will be attended by around 500 bureaucrats of UP cadre and their family members.

On the opening day on Thursday, an art and photography competition was organised. It was inaugurated by Chief Secretary Anup Chandra Pandey.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address the meeting of the association on Friday. On the same day, the Chief Minister will host lunch for the IAS officers at his official residence.

During the Chief Minister’s address, four IAS officers will give presentations on good governance.

The general body meeting of the UP IAS Association will be held on Saturday and on the same day, Governor Ram Naik will host a dinner for the officers at Raj Bhawan.

Besides taking up the issues of the association and its members, the IAS Association meeting will also elect the new office-bearers. The IAS Association will also discuss the demand for police commissioner system and may pass a resolution on it.

Governor Ram Naik had during the recently concluded Police Week advocated introduction of police commissionerate system in the state. He had later written a letter to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, asking him to seriously consider the proposal.

The traditional cricket match between UP IAS officers and IPS officers will be held here on February 3.
