Advocating that demonetisation will clean election from muscle and money power Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said that honest people are happy with this decision while corrupt are looking for cover.

"The demonetisation is a great decision taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to clean the political and social system. This will end corruption from the country. Earlier, the parties used to buy your votes on the bases of money power. This will end now,” Singh said while addressing Parivartan rally in Fatehpur on Friday.

He said that there are many parties who have sold their tickets. After demonetisation leaders of this party are worried because their stashed money has been turned into `raddi’ (trash) in one day. Prime Minister did not give them time to exchange those money, he said.

“Tell me this was a good decision or bad … I want to hear from you,” Singh asked the milling crowd in Fatehpur and they roared in unison “yes”.

“The BJP is getting support on demonetisation but BSP national president Mayawati feels country has been struck by an earthquake,” he said and took a jibe at BSP chief saying: “Her haathi (elephant - election symbol of BSP) has turned into Bhains (buffalo).”

He also attacked Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav saying that so-called development in UP is only visible on hoardings and advertisements. The fact is people are suffering because of mis-governance. UP is in dire straits and is craving for change. Only BJP can bring that change, declared Singh.

“The support party is getting from all quarters is testimony of BJP’s growing popularity. India can become number 1 if UP becomes number 1. Some vote for a change and vote BJP back to power,” Singh said.

Union Minister of State for Food Processing Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti said that SP goons have plundered money through illegal mining in this area. The land of poor has been encroached. The time is coming to pay them back, she said hinted at coming assemblyu election.

BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya also spoke on this occasion.
