Faizabad has ranked on top during ongoing campaign aimed checking power pilferage launched by UP Power Corporation limited (UPPCl). The campaign was launched last week following instructions of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
In last week about 2000 cases of power pilferage has been exposed with FIR being lodged against 1069 defaulters. During this period about one crore compounding fee was realised, said, the power corporation spokes person on Friday.
With FIR being lodged against 29 persons total 201 cases of pilferage were exposed at Faizabad which was maximum during the campaign so far. Allahabad was on second where 200 cases were exposed with FIR being lodged against 154 persons. In Varanasi 167 cases involving defaulters consuming more energy than sanctioned load, he said.
The campaign was launched after chief minister Akhilesh Yadav had expressed displeasure over rising line losses across the state and dissatisfactory revenue realisation by power corporation officials.
The campaign was being run by all discoms across UP which may continue y end of this month, the power corporation spokes person said.
