law enforcing agencies who were already on their toes in wake of on-going festival season, went on further high alert following Fidayeen attack in Gurdaspur at Punjab on Monday morning.
“All divisional commissioners, district magistrates and police chiefs have been directed to ensure patrolling in sensitive places and ask local intelligence units to remain on high alert,” asserted Principal Secretary (Home) Devasheesh Panda while reacting on the reports of terror attack in Punjab. They have also been instructed to ensure checking of crowded places like cinema halls, malls, bus and railway stations with the help of anti-sabotage and bomb disposal squads, he said, warning that no laxity will be tolerated.
“District administration has been made responsible for maintaining communal amity and law and order,” he said. Four heavily armed terrorists wearing army fatigues went on a rampage attacking a bus and a police station complex, leaving five persons, including a policeman, dead and several injured at Dina Nagar area in Gurdaspur district bordering Pakistan.
Meanwhile, chief secretary, Alok Ranjan later in the evening disclosed to have directly interacted with all the officers concerned to review the security arrangement for coming Month of Shrawan and other festivals. Ranjan said that this year they had banned the use of RsDJ’ in the procession or any other musical instruments as it mostly led to clashes in the past. He said that all the district magistrates and local district police chief under whose jurisdiction the RsKanwarYatra’ would pass have been directed to take all necessary measures like ensuring maintenance of street lights, drinking water, traffic diversion, while instructions were also passed to bound down all anti-social elements who created trouble in the past during the celebration of the Shrawan month. PS (Home), Devasheesh Panda and Director General of police, Jagmohan Yadav were also present in the meeting.
Tall claims of putting the state under high alert following terrorist attack in Guradaspur at Punjab stand exposed when a SUV having Samajwadi Party flag entered into the highly protected area of Ram Janmbhomi RsGarbgrih’ in Ayodhya without any interception by the local police.
luckily, it was the Central Forces, who manned the protected area finally once again intervened and handed over the matter to the local police for further action. The vehicle was spotted in the same area where five fidayeen of lasker-e-Taiba (leT) entered into 2005 and tried to damage the RsGarbhgrih’ but their move was foiled by the Central forces after they gunned them down.
However, what raised more concern is that the despite of the vehicle intercepted on Monday morning, the director general of police, Jagmohan Yadav, not even had knowledge of the development and he admitted it when some media persons questioned him about the action taken in the matter. RsRsNo, I was not having any information as I just learnt of the development in Faizabad”, asserted Jagmohan Yadav while reply to media query on the issue on Monday evening.
When asked that what action will be taken against the inspector, who was on the vehicle which illegally entered into the protected area, Yadav again said that he will look into it.
It may be mentioned that when entire state went on high alert, a White colour Scorpio (UP91F-5452) having SP flag on the bonnet entered into the highly protected area of Ram Janmbhomi. The local police who were on duty did not even took notice of the unauthorised entry of the SUV and it was sleuths of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), who were manning the protected area noticed the illegal entry.
As the vehicle was locked so the Bomb Detection and Disposal Team (BDDS) of the CRPF broke down the window panes suspecting that the vehicle might be having explosives. later they said to have found nothing objectionable. On query, they found that the vehicle probably owned by some RsKhan Brothers’ was brought by police inspector, Nand lal, presently posted in the control room at Mahoba. One lady, whom the inspector said to be his kin was also present with the cop. After primarily quizzing, the CRPF handed over Nand lal into the custody of local police for further grilling.
