Talking to media persons in Mathura on Wednesday, the parliamentarian said that after its inclusion in the NCR, basic facilities in Mathura would become like that in Delhi, resulting in increased inflow of tourists.
The Bollywood actress said that after becoming Mathura’s MP six years back, she had tried to get the district included in the NCR and had even requested then Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to send a proposal to the Centre.
Hema Malini said that she would soon have a meeting with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath virtually and send a proposal to accelerate the process to include Mathura in the NCR.
“This would help those who lost their jobs due to the pandemic in getting alternative employment,” she opined.
The cine star said that she had sought details on the city’s geographical and cultural conditions and found that Mathura had immense possibilities of tourism.
“If basic facilities are improved in Mathura, then not only will international tourists start pouring in, but the city will also develop and people will get employment,” she said.
“Mathura’s Holi has already been attracting tourists. Besides, the main museum and Jain Museum are world class. Not only does the main museum have rare sculptures of Gautam Buddha, the idols too entail a history,” she said.
