Former BSP MP Brijesh Pathak who recently joined BJP gave a call of Samajwadi Party and BSP-free Uttar Pradesh.after he was given a rousing welcome on his arrival to the state capital

"We have to get rid of BSP and SP - both caste based and corrupt parties. Unless these parties are thrown out State cannot progress. The onus is now on BJP to provide relief to the people of this state. We should ensure that we win next assembly election with a landslide margin,” Brijesh Pathak said while addressing party workers here on Sunday.

Pathak, who was elected MP from Unnao, in 2009 switched over to BJP early this week giving a jolt to Bahujan Samaj party. He was considered a Brahmin face of BSP and his joining BJP is considered consolidation of Brahmin votes in favour of BJP.

“I will earnestly work for strengthening BJP in Uttar Pradesh. People want to see BJP in power and I will ensure this happens,” he said.

Welcoming Pathak in party BJP state president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that all those leaders who want UP to progress are joining BJP. It is a good trend. “We will repeat our 2014 performance. People have seen these regional parties and they want a change,” he said and added: “This time BJP will win not less than 265 seats and will form its own government.”

Hitting out at Akhilesh Yadav government he said that law and order situation in the state is very bad. The farmers are bearing the brunt because of insensitivity of the government. People in Bundelkhand are forced to commit suicide. The Central Government has given a Bundelkhand package of Rs 15,500 crore to UP but the state has so far failed to utilize that money,” he said.

“BJP is the only party which talks about poor and downtrodden. It is the party where every worker is given importance. It is not like Samajwadi Party where only one parivar is important and the rest are pushed to second line,” he said.

lucknow Mayor Dinesh Sharma also spoke on this occasion.
