Shivpal Yadav, who recently merged his Progressive Samajwadi Party-Lohia with the Samajwadi Party, has said that he has no longing for any post in the party and that he will remain its loyal soldier for life. Shivpal Singh had on Monday visited Kunda, the assembly constituency of independent MLA Raja Bhaiyya.

“I have no desire for any post; position is not a big deal for me. Whether I get any post or not, I will work for the Samajwadi Party for life and this is my final decision,” he said. However, he added that he would shoulder the responsibility given to him as he wanted to strengthen the organisation. He also praised his nephew and the Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, saying Akhilesh is efficiently performing his duties as the leaer of opposition in UP Assembly.

Shivpal, who was earlier known for his conciliatory stance towards the Yogi Adityanath government, has now started attacking the BJP. Taking on the BJP government in UP, Shivpal said the leaders are being harassed by fake cases and being sent to jail.

“The BJP government is killing democracy. It won the  Rampur bypoll by misusing the official machinery and locals were not allowed to vote. This government has broken all records of corruption. People are fast getting disillusioned with the BJP and support is growing for the Samajwadi Party,” Shivpal claimed, adding people of the state are troubled by the galloping inflation and rampant corruption.
