Samajwadi Party leader and MLC Swami Prasad Maurya has alleged that the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party to commemorate the 75th year of independence was a “conspiracy against Muslims”.

Questioning the rationale of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign, the SP leader asked the Muslims to be vigilant against the conspiracy.

“Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan is a conspiracy against the Muslims, hatched by the BJP. As per the plan drawn by the BJP, anti-social and mischievous elements will sneak into Muslim dominated localities, damage the flag and show disrespect to it and the Muslims will be held responsible for the sacrilege,” claimed the SP leader, who was a cabinet minister in Yogi Adityanath government 1.0 till January this year.

Swami Prasad Maurya advised the Muslim community to be on guard and cautioned them to hoist the national flag at their residences for their own safety.

He advised Muslims to click photographs of strangers visiting their localities for hoisting the national flag. He said intelligence agencies had given inputs that such thing would happen in Muslim dominated localities. He said to counter this conspiracy, the Muslims should hoist the national flag themselves at their place of residence and other establishments.

Maurya alleged that since the Yogi Adityanath government had failed to deliver on all fronts, it was left with no option but to create communal divide in society.

Meanwhile, the BJP slammed the SP leader for his statement.

BJP spokesman Rakesh Tripathi said, “Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav links 75th Independence Day celebrations with communal riots while his party MLC Swami Prasad Maurya outlines the strategy for how to engineer the riots.

“The statements of Akhilesh Yadav and Swami Prasad Maurya have confirmed beyond doubt that they are nursing evil designs for unleashing communal violence in the state for their narrow political ends,” Tripathi said and added, “It is very unfortunate to view the national flag from the communal prism and the people will frustrate the evil design of the Samajwadi Party.”
