State government banned free sale of all types of acid through retail outlet and has issued rules for its sale to the customers.
Government orders come in wake of the Supreme Court's directives asking all the state to restrict and monitor sale of acid as it is becoming a social evil when girls were attacked with it. Briefing the media persons about the measures taken to regulate sale of acid here on Monday evening, Principal Secretary (home) R M Srivastava said that under the new rule all the retail shops selling acids would have to keep register of sale of the item and the customer purchasing it would have to submit their ID proof and reason for the purchase.
Secondly, the customer and sale registers along with the stock would be checked every month by the Additional District Magistrate(ADM) rank officer. Thirdly, the retail shops would be asked not to give acid at any cost to anyone below the age of 18 years. RM Srivastava said that similarly educational institutions, hospitals and other places where acid is required for students or other purposes would also have to maintain register to have a detail of use and its reason.
