After Mega star Amitabh Bachchan and his actor son Abhishek Bachchan another cine star Govinda is all set to get `farmer’s status” as he planning to purchase agricultural land in Mohanlalganj, the suburban area of lucknow.
Government sources said here on Thursday that Govinda along with his wife and elder brother were camping in lucknow for the past 3 days to finalise a deal to purchase 8000 square meter of agricultural land at Ranikhera village in Mohanlalganj tehsil.
The land belongs to one Vinit Pratap Singh of Gonda district of UP. It is believed that the actor and the owner of the land have already signed a purchase agreement. However, Govinda was interested in immediately registeration of the land.
The agriculture land selected by Govinda is 13 kilometer from the Amausi airport.
Earlier in December 2014, the Bachchan father-son duo purchased approximately 1.4 hectare (3.2 acres) in Muzaffarnagar village at Kakori—23 km from the state capital.
The Bachchans had paid a total of Rs 6 crore for the agricultural land at the rate of Rs 67 lakh per bhiga apart from a stamp duty of Rs 29.85 lakh. Of this two bhiga 3 biswa land has been registered in Amitabh Bachchan’s name and six bhiga ten biswa in Abhishek Bacchan’s name.
In 2010 too Amitabh and his wife Jaya Bachchan had purchased nearly 4 hectares (10 acres) of land in the same village in Kakori in Malihabad teshil.
Before this the superstar found himself in a controversy after purchasing 16 bighas of land in Daulatpur village of neighboring Barabanki district in 2006 and 2007.
A case was also registered against Bachchan and five others alleging that the actor had “cheated” people by announcing setting up of Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Mahavidyala Degree College in the village but nothing had happened since then.
