Governor Ram Naik recommended the sacking of suspended Registrar of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, US Tomar with immediate effect saying that he was found guilty of violation of university rules and amassing huge wealth.

The Governor wrote to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday asking him to issue termination orders of Tomar at the earliest.

Earlier in 2015, the Governor had suspended Tomar for his involvement in several irregularities. The Registrar was charged with violating Supreme Court norms in providing affiliation to 44 colleges after the expiry of deadline in 2012. Besides, in 2013-14 academic session, Tomar violated norms by ordering admission of students.

Tomar was also accused of not filing affidavits in the courts. The probe against him proved that in 2014-15, he opened an illegal bank account and even started a website without taking permission from Vice-Chancellor or any other competent authority.

The Governor had set up a judicial probe headed by Justice (Retd) SK Tripathi to investigate into charges against the Registrar on November 5, 2015 and the Registrar was suspended on November 23 , 2015.

“The probe committee submitted its  483 page report on May 31,2017 and the Governor’s decision came after the Registrar was given opportunity to place his side before the Chancellor,” a Raj Bhawan spokesman said in a written statement issued in lucknow on Thursday.
