After being on the run, controversial ‘godman’ Baba Parmanand was arrested by the Barabanki police for sexual exploitation on Monday night.
As per reports, Ram Shankar Tiwari alias Baba Parmanand was accused of sexual exploitation by several women followers on May 12 after which the Baba was on the lam. The victims claimed that the Baba forced himself on them promising to cure them of infertility.
late on Monday night, as the godman and his driver Arvind Pathak were trying to sneak into the ashram at Arrai village of Deva (Barabanki), a waiting police team pounced on them. later, the police team raided the ashram and seized several CDs containing obscene videos of different women, vulgar literature and porn movies.
On Tuesday, the police produced the Baba and his aide in the local court at Barabanki and applied for cutodial remand for further interrogation. Several criminal cases are pending against the Baba in the district.
