Close on the heels of initiating probe of irregularities against about a dozen chairperson of Nagar Palika Parishad, lokayukta Justice (Retd) NK Mehrotra, started fresh investigation into yet another complaint of gross irregularities made against chairperson of the Nagar Palika Parishad of Kharkhaunda in Meerut.
“Yes, I am going through the charges in connection with allegation of irregularities made against chairperson of Nagar Palika Parishad of Kharkhaunda in Meerut, Archana Prajapati, and would soon issue summons to the parties concerned to record their clarification before making any headway”, disclosed Mehrotra here on Tuesday afternoon. He refused to reveal anything further.
Sources, however, confirmed that one Babita, a native of Meerut had filed a complaint after the local administration failed to reach to any logical conclusion despite of initiating probe into the matter. In her complaint, she made several charges of irregularities made by Prajapati and other officials of the Khankhaunda Palika Parishad and alleged that they had swindled huge money by giving contracts to their own contractors.
Babita informed state ombudsman that even when enquiry has been made against one of the contractor, whom she identified as Yogendra Sharma, still violating all the laid norms of giving contracts, like inviting tenders, going for the minimum and best work etc, Prajapati and other officials blindly give all the contracts just to Yogendra. Interestingly, Babita also attached documents which showed that audit report of some work done under Prajapati’s regime, large scale irregularities has been made by Yogendra in connivance with Palika Parishad’s chairperson and officials, but still he managed to get all contracts.
