After two days of spurt in COVID-19 cases, Uttar Pradesh witnessed a decline in fresh cases as 10 people tested positive for novel coronavirus infection on Monday even as 69 out of 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh reported no fresh case in the last 24 hours.

A government spokesman said that 1.46 lakh Covid tests were carried out. The test positivity rate (TPR), which shows the levels of infection among people, has decreased to less than 0.01 per cent, the lowest in the country.

High recoveries and a low number of new COVID-19 cases have reduced the active caseload in Uttar Pradesh to 137.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure that everyone coming to UP from other states and abroad is tested for COVID-19. This includes ensuring that those coming especially from abroad or states reporting a higher surge of cases like Kerala and Maharashtra are carrying negative COVID-19 reports.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh has administered over 16.83 crore Covid vaccine doses. It has also achieved the landmark of administering the first dose of the Covid vaccine to over 77.71 per cent of the eligible adult population. Over 5.35 crore people in the state have been fully vaccinated.
