In a bizarre incident related to theft of a buffalo in Bagpat, a fresh case has been registered against four senior police officials at the Chandinagar police station, accusing them of making unfair probe into the a buffalo theft case, reported a year back.
Senior Superintendent of Police in Bagpat, JK Shahi, said that they had to registered a case against the then CB-CID, ASP Pankaj Kumar, CB-CID inspector Gaje Singh, the then Circle Officer Barot, Rafiq Ahmed  and constable clerk, Ram Dutt Sharma, for making an unfair probe. According to the incident, four youths— Farooq, Farman, Shakir and Shahid  were booked in connection with the buffalo theft case registered in Chandinagar police station in Bagpat about a year back. However, controversy arises when the then CO of Barot, Rafiq Ahmed during his finding in the case, termed that no such incident took place hence a fake report has been registered by the complainant regarding buffalo theft. He also said that all the four named in the case were innoncent and that they the report against them should be expunged.
Sources further said that after contradiction arises, the another probe was made in the case by the Special Investigation team lead by sub-inspector, Umesh Kaushik. Interestingly, Kaushik again claimed that the theft reported against the accused was not concocted and that it was the CO, who had not gone in-depth of the probe and gave clean chit to the arrested accused, terming the case as fake. Kaushik said that the theft incident took place and all the four accused were involved in it.
Surprisingly, the matter was again sent for investigation to  CB-CID, which termed the report of Umesh Kaushik as fake and they even went ahead and registered a FIR against the SI.  But when Kaushik approached the court against the CB-CID action, the court on August 13 last decided that the report of the SI was correct and that it was the CB-CID which made unfair probe. Following the court orders, Bagpat  police was forced to registered the case against the four CB-CID officials. The court also rejected the stay
given to the four accused and thus FIRs were registered against them.
