In an intresting development the Samajwadi Party lok Sabha candidate and former union minister Sompal Shastri's son and daughter in law have joined the BJP on Monday in the presence of state party president Dr lakshmikant Bajpai and senior party leader lalji Tandon.
It may be recalled that SP has announced the candidature of Sompal Shastri from Bagpat which is being represented by RlD chief and Civil Aviation Minister Chaudhri Ajit Singh. Shashtri's on Sandeep Chaudhri and daughter in law Maneesha Chaudhri along with several sitting and former blcok pramukh and gram pradhan joined the BJP on Monday.
Sompal Shastri as a BJP nominee had defeated Chaudhri Ajit Singh in 1998 and was appointed minister in Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government afterwards. It was speculated that the Bagpat lok Sabha constituency might witness a clash between father and son if BJP decides to field Sandeep Chaudhri as its nominee.
