The insensitivity of UP Police in acting against sexual predators once again came to the fore when fed up with being harassed and the police looking the other way, a high school student ended her life in Barabanki.
The unabashed police have now registered a case and claimed to have launched a hunt to arrest the teasers.
As per reports, a girl of Kanshiram Colony in Kamriyabagh area of Barabanki was constantly being harassed by Monu of Abhaynagar, Sonu and Rakesh of Ghantaghar. Monu and his friends used to come to a kin living next door to the girl’s house.
After she narrated her ordeal, the girl’s father complained to the Kotwali police and as has become usual with the police, no action was taken.
Upon learning about the complaint with the police, the miscreants intercepted the girl and threatened her to accept their friendship or be ready to face the music. Upset with this, the girl left her home and started living at her maternal uncle’s home.
Despite this, the harassers continued to make advances after which she jumped from the fourth floor of an apartment to end her life on Tuesday. She was rushed to Trauma Centre of KGMU, in Lucknow but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Her father lodged a case naming the miscreants after which a so called hunt was launched.
