On Sunday morning, people saw his body hanging from a tree at some distance from Lakshmi Narayan’s bungalow. The relatives alleged that Narayan was having a land dispute with some people of the village and the neighbours had also threatened to kill him on Saturday evening.

The relatives and villagers also staged a protest, claiming that the victim was murdered and later his body was hanged from a tree to make it a case of suicide.

According to reports, in 1975-76, the then village head had given a lease of two and a half bighas of land to Narayan’s family and they used to do farming on it. Some villagers were trying to grab this land and had regular fights with Narayan. His son had complained about this several times to the local police. The cops also sent one of the accused to jail a few months back but last week, he was released on bail. On Saturday evening, an agreement was made by calling both the parties to the house of Vinod Yadav, the former head of Garhwana panchayat in Pakka Tal.

Meanwhile, four people from the other side went away from there. Narayan and his son Shiv Poojan left the house at Pakka Tal at around 8:30. While Narayan went to the farm house, his son returned home. It seems that the accused killed Narayan sometime in the night.

The police sent the body for post-mortem and were making further investigations.
