Fact sheet of dadri incident sent to centre

PNS

State government finally sent a fact sheet of the Dadri incident to the Centre with just mentioning that Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched  on the charges of killing an animal, whose slaughtering was banned.

However, the Home ministry reported to have expressed their displeasure on the State government’s report which is sent only after a reminder. Surprisingly, in the FIR lodged against the accused, the State police did not add Section 302 of the IPC in the case as per the report sent to the Centre. According to the two-page report sent to Under Secretary in the Home Ministry Rina Guha, State’s home secretary Kamal Saxena gave his reply or fact sheet of the crime in six points describing the incident and the action taken by the police to maintain peace and communal harmony.

Fifty-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq was lynched to death while his son Danish was critically injured in the attack by a mob at Bisada village on September 28 night over the rumour that he had consumed beef.   The state government’s report has no mention of beef/cow slaughter, and is ‘mum on the motive behind Akhlaq’s murder’.  The report apparently says that Akhlaq was lynched for killing an animal whose slaughter is banned. The report does not blame any group for the killing of Akhlaq in Bisada village of Gautam Buddha Nagar district.

The report adds that investigations are currently on in the case. The first point say of the government’s report say about the incident of September 28 in which Akhlaq was killed while his son Danish was injured. A FIR was registered by Akhlaq wife Ekraam agaisnt Rupender, Vivek, Sachin, Hariom, Vishal, Shival, Sandeep, Saurabh and Gaurab besides  4-5 unidentified persons. The FIR was registered under section 147,148,149,323,504,506,307,427, 458 of the IPC and 7 criminal law Amendment Act. On the next day police arrested Rupender,Vivek,  Hariom, Sandeep, Gaurab and Saurab were arrested under Jarcha police station area for the attack.   In the second point, the government mentioned about the agitation on September 29 when some people jammed the road and arson took place in which two FIRs were registered. The first one was lodged against 15-20 persons under section 147/ 323 of the IPC and the second one was registered against 100 unidentified people under section 147,148,427,332,353 of the IPC and seventh criminal law amendment act.

The third point gave detail of the compensation given to the deceased family including Rs 45 lakh to the family members of Akhlaq besides Rs 5 lakh to one Rahul Yadav, who was injured in the police firing during the agitation. In the fourth point, the government said about the security arrangements made while the remaining points too deal about the social harmony being created in the area. The report also mentioned about the leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Arvind Kejriwal, Mahesh Sharma , Sangeet Singh Som, Ms Vrinda Karat and AIMIM president Asauddin  Owaisi visited the village. Earlier, the Union Home Ministry on October 1 had sought a detailed report from the government on the Dadri lynching incident. later, a reminder was also sent to the state on Friday last after State government failed to reply.

Besides, the Centre has also issued an advisory to all the states to adopt zero tolerance towards any attempt to weaken the secular fabric of nation. Meanwhile, the Congress has decided to hold ‘Sadbhawna fast’ at Dadri on October 10 to protest against the lynching.   Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi along with senior party leaders from UP and other parts of the country are likely to sit on a day-long fast at Dadri roundabout, a senior UP Congress leader said here on Tuesday. AICC general secretary Madhusudan Mistri, State Congress president Nirmal Khatri, Rajya Sabha member  Raj babbar, other leaders like Jitin Prasada, R P N Singh, Shriprakash Jaiswal are likely to join the fast at Dadri.
