In an attempt to corner Congress on JNU issue BJP national president Amit Shah asked party Vice President Rahul Gandhi whether anti national slogans are acceptable to him in the name of free speech and freedom of expression.
“If Rahul Gandhi doesn’t support these slogans, he should have the courage to condemn them. Congress party and Rahul Gandhi are stooping low for vote bank politics and supporting anti national activities on the name of freedom of speech,” Shah said while addressing party workers after unveiling the statue of Raja Suheldeo in Bahraich on Wednesday.
He said: “Parliament is the biggest panchayat of the country and I want each party in Parliament to clarify whether they support the slogans threatening to break India. I want the parliamentarians to judge for themselves whether public considers such kind of slogans as sedition or freedom of expression.”
Shah said the entire country had seen how these anti-national elements have raised the slogans. “India got freedom due to the sacrifices made by millions but today if you support those who threaten to break India in the name of freedom of expression, you are answerable to the people of India.”
“BJP strongly condemns such anti national slogans. We will never support such slogans that eulogises the terrorists who attacked Indian parliament,” he said.
While blaming both Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party for the backwardness of Uttar Pradesh Shah said only BJP government in the state can speed up development. You can take a leaf out of BJP-ruled states to see what BJP can do,” he said.
Terming SP as the party of a family and BSP as a casteist party he alleged that the Samajwadi party has left ‘Samajwad’ (socialism) and now has adopted ‘Parivarwad’.
“Bring in a BJP government in 2017 in UP and witness an all-round development in the state,” he said. Mentioning about the previous BJP governments in UP of the Kalyan Singh and Rajnath Singh, he said that after that regime, the state has lagged in development. He even announced that if BJP comes to power in the state by 2019 all the villages in the state would get 24 hours power.
Shah also talked about achievements of Narendra Modi government how it is focussing on the upliftment of poor, farmers and backwards. He also thanked the people of UP for sending 71 BJP members in the lok Sabha, in which PM is also one of them.
On the occasion BJP president also talked about the achievements of Raja Suheldev. He also released a book on the warrior. Suheldev, who represented Rajbhar community, was an 11th century Dalit king.
