One cub at the lion Safari had died of Pneumonia at the lion Safari while the histo-pathological report of the four cubs reveals nothing significant. AK Sharma the Head of the National Referral for Wildlife Centre at the IVRI Bareilly said that an extensive look into the histo- pathological reports have reported everything normal. He said that an expert committee sat for a thorough review on the reports on Monday.
Talking to “The Pioneer” on Monday Sharma said that one cub of lioness Heer died of pneumonia. “One cub of Heer which lived for one day died of pneumonia while the histo-pathological report of the cubs has shown nothing abnormal. We carried out tests for the various organs of the cubs. The dead cubs had also looked normal. There were no gross abnormalities in the still born cubs too” he said. Sharma said that they would shortly be sending the report to the Forest Department.
It may be noted that the lion Safari witnessed the birth of five cubs to two lionesses in the recent past out of which four died. The lion cubs are essential for the project because of the CZA instruction that the lion Safari will be opened only after a cub from the lions attains the age of one year.
