Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati demanded that the Assembly poll in the state should be advanced and be held immediately in view of the prevailing anarchy triggered by the ongoing tussle in the first family of Samajwadi Party.

"The Election Commission should not wait further and announce the polls dates as 22 crore people of UP are suffering from jungle raj. What has accentuate the situation is the ongoing discord among the members of the ruling Yadav clan," she said in a statement issued in lucknow on Wednesday.

Mayawati said that it is the EC's duty to hear the problems faced by people and prepone the elections slated in January-February 2017.

"The ongoing tussle within the Yadav clan proves that the party was fighting over the money and other irregularities resulting n a collapse in governance and criminals and mafia having a field day in the state," she said.

Attacking the BJP, Mayawati said it is the duty of the Central government to recommend President's rule and direct the EC to hold early elections.

" But as the BJP was not ready for the elections and are apprehending a debacle atthe hustings, hence they too are trying their best to delay the elections," she claimed.
