The Election Commission of India issued notification for bypoll to Sikandara Assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. Polling has beeen scheduled on December 21.
The Assembly seat in Kanpur Dehat fell vacant due to the demise of sitting BJP member Mathura Prasad Pal, who died after a prolonged illness on July 22.
According to the ECI, nomination process for Sikandara Assembly byelection has started on Monday and the last date for filing of papers is December 4. Scrutiny of papers would be done on December 5 and the last date for withdrawal is December 7. While the polling for the bypoll would be held on December 21, the counting of votes would be held on December 24.
Voting would be done through Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the bypoll with the facility of VVPAT (Voter verifiable paper audit trail).
