In a recent case where there was an accident involving a monkey we confiscated the bus and imposed a fine . Even for fishing in the prohibited area we have imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh” said Singh. The Deputy Director said that people carry out fishing in the buffer area because normally several fishes flow towards the buffer areas during the times of monsoons
He pointed out that this was essential to discourage the poachers. “This will be a deterrent to the poachers” he said.
The Deputy Director said that they had also employed the services 16 females from the Prantiya Raksha Dal for dealing with the Tharu tribals. “ Deployment of the female guards have helped in the dealing with the Tharu women which were difficult to deal with otherwise owing to cultural differences. Normally whenever the fishing activities are carried out the Tharu men put their women in front and it becomes difficult to deal with them. This is the first time that the women PRD’s have been deployed in forest duties” he said.
