After 14 district magistrates and 16 district police chiefs were found absent during a high-level reality check exercise carried out by the Chief Minister’s Office on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered that officers must regularly attend office and meet people between 10 am and 12 noon.

The reality check was carried out twice at 9:30 am and 10 am when the district magistrates and district police chiefs were contacted on their office numbers but several of them were found absent.

On being informed about the non-availability of top district officials from their offices during his daily morning meeting, the chief minister ordered that all district magistrate and district police chiefs should be present in their offices from 10 am to 12 noon every day to hear and redress the grievances of the people.

What is more, Yogi directed that the fact finding exercise be continuously carried out from the offices of the chief minister, chief secretary, ACS (Home) and DGP.

The chief minister reiterated in a stern tone that tainted police officers and personnel should be sacked and shown the way out of the department.

"There should be no place in Uttar Pradesh for corrupt personnel and those indulging in illegal activities. A list should be prepared by identifying such people. Action will be taken against all as per rules," he said in a fresh directive.

“In the past, there have been serious complaints of many police officers and personnel indulging in illegal activities. This is not acceptable at all. There is no place for such people in the police department.  Prepare an evidence-backed dossier against such tainted policemen. Action will be taken against all. Police officers and personnel involved in serious crimes should be sacked. Also, officers and personnel with a tainted image should not be posted in important field posts. If a complaint is received at any level regarding this, strict action will be taken against the officials and personnel concerned,” Yogi stressed.

On September 9, the chief minister had also given strict instructions to get the screening done from the ASP to inspectors posted in the districts and two committees headed by DG and ADG were formed.

During the video conferencing, Yogi also dished out strict instructions on posting of police officers in various capacities in the districts. The SIT constituted chaired by DG (Vigilance) is screening the postings of ASPs and COs and the SIT led by ADG (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar is screening the credentials of inspector and sub-inspectors.  It is being believed that soon several tainted police officers and personnel will be dismissed from service.
