Dimple Yadav, wife of Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, will file her nomination papers from Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency on April 6.
The Kannauj Lok Sabha seat will go to polls in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election on April 29.
Dimple Yadav was first elected from Kannauj Lok Sabha seat in 2012 in the bypoll. She was elected unopposed. The bypoll was caused by the resignation of Akhilesh Yadav who had also contested from Firozabad seat which he retained. Dimple Yadav was re-elected from Kannauj constituency in the 2014 Lok Sabha election by defeating her nearest BJP rival Subrat Pathak by a thin margin of a little over 12,000 votes.
This time the Samajwadi Party is contesting the Lok Sabha polls in Uttar Pradesh in alliance with Bahujan Samaj Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal.
