Samajwadi Party’s lok Sabha candidate from Sultanpur constituency, Atiq Ahmed, landed in fresh trouble as Director General of Police Deo Raj Nagar has sought a report from Sultanpur district police chief regarding the alleged flaunting firearms by his supporters during a procession.

“The DGP office has sought a report from the Superintendent of Police of Sultanpur in this regard,” IG (Crime) Ashish Gupta told reporters here on Monday evening. The DGP reportedly sought the report within a few hours of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav saying that no one was above law. Yadav asserted this while replying to media questions on the alleged display of fire and muscle power by Atiq Ahmed during his maiden tour of Sultanpur.

Atiq had reportedly also boasted that all his opponents taken together could not equal the number of cases registered against him. Atiq Ahmad had taken out a procession in Sultanpur on Sunday, and his supporters were reportedly seen flaunting firearms. The IG said the Sultanpur district police chief’s report was expected in a couple of days and action would be taken if there was any violation of law.
