Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya criticised Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya for latter’s controversial remarks on Goddess Lakshmi. He said that the remarks were made to please Akhilesh Yadav.

Talking to reporters in Jhansi on Tuesday, the deputy CM said: “What Akhilesh Yadav writes, Swami Prasad reads.”

Swami Prasad Maurya, known for igniting controversy, questioned the depiction of Goddess Lakshmi with four hands, asserting that humans have never been born with more than two hands.

The deputy CM said that it was an attack on Hinduism. “The SP leaders tend to show Hinduism in a bad light. Maurya’s remarks show the mentality of the Samajwadi Party leaders and how much they loathe the Hindu religion,” KP Maurya said.

Referring to Rahul Gandhi, the deputy CM stated, “Rahul Gandhi leads a party known as a corrupt party. They deprive people of their rights. People in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram don’t consider the Congress members as leaders. We don’t take his statements seriously.”

He added: “A wave in favour of the BJP is sweeping Madhya Pradesh. There is a tornado of BJP as people are talking about the good work being done by the BJP governments – both in the state and at the Centre. Besides, there is the Narendra Modi tsunami. The fate of the Congress in Madhya Pradesh will be similar to what happened in Uttar Pradesh.”

On Rahul Gandhi’s statement declaring Madhya Pradesh as the capital of corruption, Maurya said: “When his father Rajiv Gandhi was the prime minister, he had stated in the parliament that when we send one rupee from Delhi, Congress middlemen eat up 85 paise, and only 15 paise reach those who deserve.”

“Corruption is in the genes of the Congress party and the statement of former PM Rajiv Gandhi just exposes the character of Congress leaders,” he added.
