Assuring ‘sants’ and ‘sadhus’ that their demand for the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya will be fulfilled, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath asked them to have patience because the construction would begin after fulfilling all judicial formalities. “We are the world’s largest democracy and the judiciary has its own role to play. We need to respect the court verdict despite a majority of people, including ‘dharmacharya’ and ‘sants’, are in favour of the construction of a grand Ram temple at Ayodhya,” he said while addressing ‘sants’ at a function on the occasion of the birth celebration of Mahant Nritya Gopal Das in Ayodhya on Monday.
The CM said that people wanted the construction of the Ram temple without any acrimony in the society and for that patience was needed. The statement of the CM came in the backdrop of several ‘sants’ and ‘sadhus’ expressing their annoyance over the delay in the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya. “We need to have patience because any discord in the society will be detrimental for the democracy,” he said
Without naming Samajwadi Party, Yogi said the people who opened fire on karsevaks were talking about the Ram temple. “What they did when they were in power. They just ignored Ayodhya during their regime. In the last one year, the BJP government had given a global identity to Ayodhya by organising deepotsav here during Diwali,” he claimed.
After attending the function, the CM also joined the Saryu aarti programme on the banks of the Saryu river.
Meanwhile, the day Yogi Adityanath visited Ayodhya, former BJP MP and senior member of Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas Ramvilas Das Vedanti said that BJP would suffer if it did not construct the Ram temple. He even declared that the construction of the Ram temple would start before 2019 without any court order. “Was the masjid demolished after seeking permission from the courtIJ” he asked.
Talking to mediapersons on Monday, Vedanti said that it was only the BJP which could construct the Ram temple at Ayodhya. “But the Prime Minister should intervene and provide 67 acres of land for the construction of Ram temple at the earliest,” he said. Vedanti, along with several other saints, from time to time had threatened to launch an agitation if the construction of Ram temple did not start before 2019 lok Sabha polls. The government and senior BJP leaders had said that they would abide by the court ruling. The Supreme Court is expected to hear the case on day-to-day basis from August.
