Exhorting youth to take the country out of the mire of confusion Samajwadi Party national president Mulayam Singh Yadav said that the party will play a major role post-lok Sabha election and everyone should get ready to face the battle of ballots.
"You (youth) have done in the past. The history is resplendent with examples when youth have turned the ride in favour of nation development. This had happened in 1977 when country got rid of Congress. The same history will be repeated in 2014 when again we will have Congress mukt India. People are fed up with BJP and Congress- thus third front will play a decisive role in Government formation in May this year," Yadav told party workers on the culmination of 12-day Cycle Yatra of the party here on Thursday.
He said that youth should get rid of inferiority complex and and work hard to make Samajwadi Party number one ki party in Uttar Pradesh. "A small mistake can cause us dearly. This election can change the face of Uttar Pradesh and the country. This election will give a new direction and the next political dispensation is not possible without the help of Samajwadi Party," he said.
Yadav in his almost half an hour speech said that the public is with them. "If we fail this moment, we will have to repent. If party leaders and workers got united, SP will sweep the polls," he said.
A few days back he had also asked the ministers in the Akhilesh Yadav Government to ensure victory of the party in their respective constituencies. "If SP loses you will not be minister in the cabinet," he said.
This time his tone was not that sharp. "The Government has done good work for the poor, farmer and Muslims. Spread the message among the people. Tell about about the government schemes that will benefit all and one. Tell them how Samajwadi Party Government is working for the uplift of the poor," he said.
Attacking BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, he said that "some liars" have arrived here and making false claims of development. "What has he done in Gujarat, where 89 per cent women and 90 per cent men are working as labourers...SP does what it used to promise", Yadav said.
SP state president and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that a number of forces were trying to stop SP from getting good seats from here but youths would give them befitting reply in elections.
