CRPF D-G stresses on modernisation of paramilitary forces

PNS

Director General of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Dilip Trivedi stressed the need of making the para-military forces more modernised so that they could handle growing challenges ahead. He said that upgrading of the Force is also very necessary as they were responsible for security of vital installations as well as to counter naxal activities besides facilitating the state forces in maintaining law and order from time to time.

Talking to the media persons soon after making all round review of the CRPF (Central Zone), Dileep Trivedi, who was on a two day tour to the city after taking charge as chief of the Organisation, said that they were well equipped and ready to face any threat but there is always space for making the Organisation for powerful so they could also handle the future threats. ``There is always a space for making a force more equipped so that they could face any kind of threats so my main thrust at present is to make the Force for modernized so they could make use of latest gadgets to counter any kind of subversive activities", claimed Trivedi while adding that in UP they had a more responsibility as CRPF is manning at the three dispute shrines - Ayodhya (Faizabad), Mathura and Varanasi, besidessecurity of both the Benches of High Court and other vital installations.

Trevedi said that besides CRPF battalions camping in Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura, lucknow and Allahabad along with Chanduli and Sone Bhadra (both naxalites belt), Rapid Action Force (RAF) of the CRPF which is specialised force to handle communal situations has been camping in there sensitive districts i.e Allahabad, Meerut and Aligarh.

When asked that a sting operation by an electronic channel pointed towards political pressure on the police force which aggravated the situation leading to riots in Muzaffarnagar so whether he feel that it was true, Dileep Trivedi not made any direct comment though he seems to have defended the Government. ``In my career as an IPS officer, I worked as chief of many districts, ranges and zones but I never felt any political pressure", he said adding that when anyone was  transferred there could be so many reasons behind it which also included their  personal request so it is unfair to just blame political leaders. ``Yes, the media and people mostly site political reasons just probably as all transfers were made by government", he asserted advicing that if one not fear of transfer which is a routine affair than there is no other political pressure which

could be faced by an officer. Dileep Trivedi also ruled out rumours spread by some media about his ossibility of becoming DGP of UP. ``Why should I leave as head of a Central Para-Military Force just to join as DG of a State", he replied while ruling out any possibility of coming back to UP.
