In yet another shocking move on Tuesday evening, the cops of the Sambhal police arrested two brothers allegedly for threatening parliamentary affairs and urban development minister Azam Khan more than two months back.
However, whether the Sambal police acted on their own to appease the minister or acted at his behest but it surprised the minority community particularly as the two brothers were earlier given clean chit by none other than the sleuths of the Special Task Force (STF) who earlier investigated the matter. It is also interesting that even the director general of police on record confirmed that the above matter was just a case of Rs wrong call’ made on Azam Khan’s mobile. On Tuesday evening, superintendent of police in Sambhal, Dr Thesildar Singh confirmed that the cops arrested Mohamed Abid and Mohamed Yamin, both real brothers as they threatened the minister Azam Khan to kill him after turning out to be human bomb. He said that the treatening call was made in May last and they registered the case with the crime branch on July 5 which is probing the matter.
However, the claims of Thesildar Singh comes under controversy as on July 1, the DGP Office in their official communiqué already claimed that it was matter of just wrong call to the minister so they not took any action as even Azam Khan reportedly forgive them after they tendered apology. The then DGP release mentioned that STF sleuths during probe on threatening call made to cabinet minister, Mohamed Azam Khan during his visit to Sambhal (Then Bhimnagar) on May 23 last, sleuths of the STF picked up one Mohamed Abid, a resident of Hallu Sarai near Nullah crossing in Bhimnagar from whose mobile (7897722814) call has been made to the minister. The probe pointed that Mohamed Abid on the fateful day, received a call on his mobile from another mobile (8941943714) at about 7:40 pm and the caller threatened and abused unnecessarily.
Abid revealed that he disclosed about the above call to his younger brother Mohamed Yamin who in turn made a return call on above unknown number through his mobile (9927281218) at about 8pm but the call not materialised. He said that at about 8:30pm the call was finally made and just to avenge, his brother Yamin abused the caller and threatened him to come face to face if he wanted to settle the score. The release said that STF team probing the above matter later cross-verified the above statement of Mohamed Abid through Call Details Records (CDRs) and found that he was making true claims. STF officials then claimed that they found that it was just a case of Rs wrong number’ and cabinet minister had received the call which was made to on another number so they set the callers free after they tendered apology to the minister for abusing and threatening him.
However, now the matter took a controversial turn when the Sambhal police arrested the above brothers on Tuesday evening on charges of threatening Azam Khan. Mohammad Azam Khan, had alleged to have got the life threatening call, when he was in Moradabad district to inaugurate a medical college in May last. Sambhal police booked the accused brothers under section 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code.
