Azimul Haq Pehalvan, the Samajwadi Party MlA from Tanda in Ambedkar nagar district in a controversial statement accused the district police of discriminating against the muslims and more concerned about the security of the Hindus during the Dusshera and Durga puja festival. The MlA alleged that the police ignored the security of the muslims during moharrum procession.
The district administration of Amebdkar Nagar had made elaborate security arrangements in the district following the Moharrum and idol immersion processions falling on the same day.
The MlA made this statement to a TV channel and the video has gone viral on the social media. The MlA said during the Dusshera and Durga Puja festival the district police provided security only to the Hindu community while the security of the muslims was in the hands of god. He said during the Moharrum process in Tanda police was nowhere to be seen.
The MlA is seen in the video as saying RsRs the festival of our Hindu brothers passed off peacefully, you would have seen that Tanda Kotwali was converted into a cantonment, police and PAC jawans were deployed at every nook and corner of the town.
But this security was meant for whom, it was certainly not for the security of the muslims’’ He further said RsRs police Daroga, DM, ADM, SP and DIG and DGP all were concerned for the security of the Hindus only. Now the festival is over and I can say with pride that only Khuda helps the helpless and downtrodden’’.
The MlA however denied the charge saying RsRs my statement has been twisted and has been quoted out of context by the media’’. The SP MlA feigned ignorance about the video circulating on the social media. "A section of the media in the district is against me so they have manufactured this story to malign me and image of the party’’. He said infect during the Durga Puja, local muslims offered all helps to the puja organizing committee and the Hindus offered scented water to the muslims during the Moharrum procession.
