In continuing attacks against members of fairer sex, a 16-year-old girl ended her life a day after being molested by two yoths in Jahanabad area of Fatehpur, while a 32-year-old pregnant woman was raped by unidentified men in Badaun.
In Fatehpur, the teenaged girl was teased and harassed by the youths after which her father complained to the police. With the cops taking no action, the victim stopped going to school two years back. later the police took cognizance and arrested both accused.
But soon after their release from jail, the youths opened a shop in front of the girl’s house and again started harassing her and even threatened her with dire consequences if she reported it to the police.
On Thursday, as the girl went out of the house to relieve herself, the youths tried to rape her. On her return, she was sent for treatment. Depressed with the continuous harassment, she committed suicide on Friday evening. SP of Fatehpur Shriparna Ganguli said that a case was registered and the body was sent for autopsy. Both accused were arrested and charged with various sections of IPC and POCSO Act.
Meanwhile in Badaun, a pregnant woman was raped by unidentified men as she went to the fields to relieve herself in Kachula village in the wee hours of Friday.
SP of Badaun, Chandra Prakash said that the accused tied her hands and feet and gagged her. “When the woman did not return home for a long time, her family members started searching for her and found her at a nearby forest in an unconscious state. They later informed the police and the woman was admitted to a hospital.”
The woman was sent to Bareilly for treatment and her medical examination was also conducted. Her statement would be recorded on Saturday. The police has launched a search for the accused.
